Career Move: your opportunity or a waste of time and energy?
We've officially announced our Techchill side event - Career Move by Nordigen. Career Move by Nordigen is happening on the 27th of April and we couldn't be more excited! But this isn't only about us. Let us walk you through a few things to consider when contemplating whether to register or avoid the event.
Career Move by Nordigen: brief intro
Career Move by Nordigen is a startup job fair within Latvia's biggest tech conference Techchill. The event gathers various high-profile startups around the region, aiming to attract all-level specialists interested in the startup ecosystem and looking for a new career path. Applicants can sign up for one-on-one meetups with specific companies or roam the event for hidden treasures. Additionally, Career Move offers industry expert presentations, seminars, and discussions throughout the day. Not sold on spending a day packed in a room with people talking business? Here are a few things you'll miss out on if you decide to skip this one.
It's an easy way to kick off your career in the tech industry.
It won't always be easy to find a room packed with impressive employers who see you as a potential employee. Here you'll see companies pitching themselves and explaining why you should pick them as a workplace. Isn't it usually the other way around? This event is for you to freely communicate your aspirations and find the right place to reach your goals.
Apply, show up and talk to companies that are keen to meet you.
It's open to specialists of all experience and knowledge levels.
We know you might not have much work experience. Super cool, if you do, though. Career Move is your chance to network with companies excited by people willing to learn new things and develop their careers. These are companies that recognise that aptitude and eagerness can often beat experience. If you have a hunch about which career trajectory you want to take, Career Move can match you with a company that will support that. Thus, ultimately, gaining the experience we all seek.
It's free.
You don't have to pay. You fill out an application, come to the event and that's about it. If anything, you save on snacks and drinks for the day (we heard someone's giving out beers).
It's a chance to learn about startups from the very source.
The event entails presentations, seminars, and discussions on startup culture. Startups are not a typical work and business environment - they're a special breed. Learn extensively about startups from people that know the field through and through. You might even find yourself with the inspiration to build your own million-dollar idea. If you don't leave with a job, you'll leave with valuable knowledge on creating your own startup work culture.
We're bringing our ping pong table.
And we're challenging you to a game. The winner takes it all (or gets a prize).
